What is a Lab Grown Diamond?

Lab Grown Diamonds are a marriage of science and luxury. They are produced in a controlled technological process as opposed to naturally formed diamonds being minded from the Earth and transported across long distances. By skipping the geological processes required to create mined diamonds, the lab grown variation is far more affordable while maintaining the same chemical and physical properties.

Are they real Diamonds?

These Lab Grown Diamonds are identical in every way to a mined diamond. They have the same chemistry derived from pure carbon crystalized in an isotropic 3D form. These Diamonds are Gemologist certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI) for their color, cut, clarity and carat grade.

How are they created?

It was first learned that Diamonds were composed of compressed Carbon in 1797. Many tried to use charcoal, iron crucibles and electric arc furnaces to generate these rare stones from their raw form. These methods just couldn’t create pressure great enough to mimic the overwhelming power held within the Earth’s surface. What we have today are processes that have achieved this goal.

One method uses high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) that involves large presses that can weigh hundreds of tons to produce said pressure. The second method, using chemical vapor deposition (CVD), creates a carbon plasma over a substrate onto which the carbon atoms deposit to form diamond.

There is no way to tell the difference between HPHT, CVD or natural mined Diamonds with the naked eye.

Why would I buy Lab Grown Diamonds?

These stunning jewels have the same quality, luster, and appearance as their naturally made counterparts. Despite sharing these traits, the Lab Grown Diamonds are significantly more affordable than the Mined Diamonds due to their controlled production and responsible sourcing. A streamlined creation means these Diamonds can be created to meet the ever-Increasing demand.
